Found this pristine copy in a charity shop. It looks a strange combination of adult mystery, written as childrens book featuring Australian animals, based on a real life murder! Won awards as a debut novel. Ear-marked to release/trade

"Australian schoolteacher Kate Byrne is having an affair with the father of her most gifted pupil, nine-year-old Lucien. Kate is fixated on a crime of passion that occurred years earlier in a nearby town and as her mind unravels, she becomes less and less aware of her own reputation in the present"

Independent
‘Funny, edgy and sparky as sherbet, Hooper’s novel lingers in the mind with all the sweetness and menace of childhood itself’

Sunday Telegraph
‘It is difficult to believe that this clever, creepy tale is Chloe Hooper’s first novel…Its originality and ambition make it a deeply impressive debut’

Tried and failed to get into this. It sounded good and has good reviews on Amazon.co.uk but looks like it's just not for me. Hopefully the next reader will have more luck!! Enjoy!!

Thank you for sending me this book - it was a lovely, if slightly disturbing read. It took me a little while to get round to as real life got in the way of bookcrossing last year but I brought it on holiday with me and enjoyed it alot. I hope to leave it out here in Colorado so it can continue its journey - I just need to find somewhere that isn't covered in snow as I didn't bring any wet weather release bags with me!
