The Woman Who Walked into the Sea by Mark Douglas-Home - Good
The second in the series about Cal McGill, oceanographer and investigator. He uses his expert knowledge and computer modelling to locate things that end up in the sea and vice versa in that he traces back things that end up on the beach to which ship they fell off etc.
Of late, he's been called in to investigate too many missing people and the bodies are starting to haunt him. He needs a break and heads up the West Coast of Scotland to get away from everything and commune with the elements.
Violet Wells was abandoned as a baby and knows nothing of her parents and the circumstances of her birth 26 years ago. Out of the blue a letter is received by social services with the details of her parentage and passed to Violet - she decides to investigate.
Of course, this leads both our characters to the same little coastal community where secrets and lies abound and where the people are split by the prospect of an offshore wind farm.
Nicely done and a little different from the usual detective/mystery story,

Caught at the Old Gang meet up. Thank you!
This was an interesting story, although I am not sure how old Cal is supposed to be. his backstory would make him older than you would think. Apart from that I think these books are an interesting take on island life, and I like the part that oceanography plays in these books. This one is reserved for earthcaroleanne.
