Extended Profile
Hi I am Robert Jones. I grew up in and around Zebulon Georgia. My father was a rancher and the county I grew up in had one traffic light(a town not unlike Mayberry). I spent much of my time growing up exploring the woodlands and swamps around the farm.

I am a baseball, football, outdoor enthusiast. I have been known to disappear for days or weeks at a time into the outdoors. I enjoy backpacking, kayaking, motorcycling, photography and general exploration of all things natural.

I have a geniune love for baseball and to somewhat lesser extent football. I play competitive softball locally in leagues(currently on two teams) and have competed in tournaments around the southeast.

I love to travel and whenever possible to go to extremes. I recently spent six weeks in the western U.S. touring Montana and Wyoming and South Dakota. I originally set out for Glacier National Park but was seduced by the Grand Lady, Yellowstone. Out of six weeks I spent perhaps five nights in hotels. The rest were in my tent and some nights I slept outside, beside the tent watching the incredible star-filled skies. I hate itineraries and I have a love of being spontanious.

I traveled alone and spent much of my vacation watching, and marveling at the wolves and bears and moose and elk. My brother observed that if he was on that kind of a vacation he would be ready to return home after the second day. I didn't want to come after six weeks.

I love the American west, particularly the Rocky Mountians. I still think the most defining moment in my life was when I stepped off of an airplane in Durango Colorado when I was twelve and looked out over the snow-capped peaks and breathed in and tasted that Colorado, Rocky Mountian air, and percieved the most beautiful, blueist sky I have ever seen.

Once on a trip to New Mexico I had another friend compare me to Spike (Snoopy's cousin) who lives alone in the desert and talks to the cacti (cacti?, cactuses?, cactusses?, whatever).

I also love the Appalachian Mountians and spend a great deal of time there hiking on the Appalachian Trail or at my favorite little gem of the Smokies, Cade's Cove.

I have a bachelor's degree from Florida State in Criminology and I was a school teacher and am actively involved in law enforcement.
