Dear Reader

Welcome to BookCrossing and thanks for being a part of World Book Night 2011, the largest book giveaway in history. 1,000,000 specially printed copies of 25 different books changed hands on March 5th 2011 and began their journey from reader to reader. This book is one of them. World Book Night has joined with BookCrossing to help track these books as they travel. You can be a part of that journey by making a comment in the book's journal here on BookCrossing. Your journal entry can say how you got the book, what you thought of it, your plans for it or whatever else you might like to add.

On BookCrossing you may choose to remain anonymous or join (it's free). If you join, you’ll be alerted by e-mail each time someone makes another journal entry for this specific copy of this book (other copies of the book are travelling with their own ID number. Every copy of every book has a unique ID). It’s all confidential (you’re known only by your screen name and no one is ever given your e-mail address) and spam-free.

Thanks in advance for being part of World Book Night and BookCrossing. And happy reading and sharing.

What a lovely surprise to receive this wishlist WBN book along with the beautiful button necklace that I won in your rabck! Thank you so much for sending me both things Vekiki.

Remember my little sock creature, " Marvel" the cat which you made for me? Well he thought the necklace was for him! Here he is modelling it:

"Is this the way to wear it mummy?"

"How do I look?"

Just popped in to say that I will start reading this book tonight. I just returned home from my holiday a couple of days ago, and I have had so much to catch up on that I didn't get much reading time, but now.....

Journal Entry 7 by chamonix44 at Almelo, Overijssel Netherlands on Saturday, June 18, 2011
I just finished reading this book. It has quite a powerful ending which brought tears to my eyes. What a terrible life Stuart had to endure. In the beginning he seemed a normal happy, helpful and caring little boy, but he suffered taunting from others and then worse. I dont want to spoil the story for others, so I won't say too much. However, he says himself that after he discovered violence then things changed a bit.
I was shocked throughout this story about all the violence, the self mutilation and the way some street people live. When I came to the end of the book, I was shocked even more, but what makes it worse is the realisation that this is a true story, and for some people this way of life still continues out there!
Thank you Ardachy for letting me take a small part in the first "World Book Night", and for letting me add my little bit of history to this book. Now I will see if I can lend it out to others.

Released 12 yrs ago (2/24/2012 UTC) at Almelo, Overijssel Netherlands

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Yesterday I had an expat meet-up and I showed my World Book Night box of books to all these friends from English speaking lands, who live here in The Netherlands. The result was amazing. Every single book got taken home by someone, (to be returned at a later date, so that I can lend them out again). I know English books are hard to come by here, but these friends are all apparently STARVED of English books!!!!

Most people made a "catch" journal entry here before they left, using my computer, with me standing over them to make sure we got those journal entries!!! There was a computer here .....so why not!!! So many release notes to be made and so many JE's afterwards that I got too tired. So left some Almelo people until today, as the Almelo expats are coming together again today for coffee!!

This book went home with Lynne from Schelfhorst, Almelo.
Enjoy!

I have the book. Not sure if I like books about drug addicts, but Nicole tells me it's about more than that, and it is quite an eye opener. Seems ok so far from what I have read. More later.

Wow! I loved it. I never read anything these days! So thank you to Nicole for getting me to take this book home with me. What a powerful story. I felt mad, and sad and really moved by this poor man's story. It left such an effect on me that I persuaded another non-reader to read it. That was my husband and he liked it too, but he said he knew things like this went on in front of our eyes. He was not as moved as me. However, it gave him a taste to read more books, I hope. I am going to take another book home with me today. Lots of our friends here at this get-together and they are returning books to Nicole and telling her what they thought about them. So I am listening to hear which book is a good one!
I hope Nicole is satisfied with this journal entry that she made me do, right here, right now! Haha!

Thank you Lynne for this great review! Much better than what I expected. You certainly are enthusiastic over taking another book.
I'm hoping someone else will take this book home with them today!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Sorry I'm so late with these release notes, but I was a bit overwhelmed with having so many books come back to me, and go out at the same time in April. Anyway, on April 21st this book went home with Henk from Schelfhorst, Almelo. I don't think Henk will make a JE unless I am with him to help him. So it probably won't be until after the book is read.

I like this book. I did not understand all of the meanings of some words or sayings, but I understand mainly what it is about. (I am Dutch). There are some people in my own country with lives like Stuart, and it is very sad sometimes to read about them.
I give the book now back to Nicole. I have interest to read another book.
It is good meeting here today with many friends and to talk about books and our lives.

Journal Entry 14 by chamonix44 at Almelo, Overijssel Netherlands on Monday, August 6, 2012
At a well needed expat get-together today, I received this book back from Henk. I wasn't sure how Henk would get on with it, but he said he actually liked reading it. It helped him with his English, and apparently he learnt a few more words!

Anyway, I am happy that this book gave pleasure to another person. He was a non-reader, but now he is going to borrow another book from my 2012 book box this time. Although I don't have all the 2012 WBN titles to lend out yet, I have quite a few and so I'm going to be pushing that box, and I will give the 2011 box a rest for now until all the 2012 titles are out being read.
