This is Jonathan Safran Foer's first novel, so when I discovered that fact and his age (25) before reading I was a little skeptical. After finishing, though, I have to say I found everything about this book moving. The story itself, the characters, the narration and the style are all incredibly unique. Critics have compared this work to A Clockwork Orange, and I guess the similarities are there, but I prefer to praise the really original parts (such as Foer's simultaneously hilarious and sad narration in the voice of Alexander Perchov). Overall I found the experience of reading this book as enlightening as the story and message behind it.
