Extended Profile
I'm an author and teacher. My first novel, ACROSS THE SWEET GRASS HILLS, released in 2001, won the 2002 Willa Literary Award for Original Paperback Fiction from Women Writing the West. A romantic-historical, it takes place during and following the infamous, but little-known, Marias Massacre of 1870, in Montana. My second book, a nonfiction history, WESTERN SISKIYOU COUNTY: GOLD AND DREAMS, has just been released. It tells the history of the region and people of the Salmon, Klamath, and Scott River areas from 'pre-contact' to the present day. It features 120+ historical photographs, many from private collections. Anyone interested in California history, Native American history, or history of the gold rush, and events following that era, would enjoy this anecdotal collection of wonderful historical moments. I also teach history and English and have published numerous articles and short stories, and recently completed my first screenplay. I have also placed in several literary and screenplay contests. I love reading in all genres and look forward to joining this wonderful effort to 'free books!' I have plenty to pass on.....
