I don't often dish out 10 stars but this is definitely one of my best reads recently.

While I find Twilight entertaining enough, the story was too formulaic: average girl (love books not exceptionally brainy, clumsy, sucks at sports - the average target reader) meets perfect guy (gorgeous looking - and perpetually so, gentlemanly, a life-saving superhero, ridiculously rich, and who finds you the most desirable creature he's seen in a hundred years... being a vampire seems such minor inconvenience...)

This book, however, simply blows me away. It would be lovely if Rowlings can write something that makes me say, well, Harry Potter is great, but this new book is even more brilliant. (I am not saying Rowlings can't, I am eagerly waiting.) Here is an author more mature and developed who doesn't need to stay in the comfort zone.

An alien, Wanderer, in inserted into the body of a human being, after Earth has been taken over by the aliens, but to her surprise, Melanie, the soul of the host body, refuses to go away. Wanderer is haunted by Melanie's memory of the man she loves, and the two ends up as reluctant allies as they go search for him. The story moves along at a good pace with many twists, the plot is richer and less predictable than Twilight. At places when a lesser author can happily end the story, Meyer pushes on to bring it to a higher peak.

As for "the first love triangle involving only two bodies", well, things get really interesting when it becomes a love rectangle! This book makes me laugh, makes me cry, makes me think a lot, makes my heart sing for the goodness and love in life. (I have wanted to say in humankind, or in our soul, but in this case it would not be inclusive enough.) This is a book that makes me want it to continue, I want to hear so much more about the characters, all the characters.
