This seems to be a science (zoology) thriller. A fifth of the way in, I'm unfortunately quite bored...
Addendum (June 10, '12): I've given up. The writing is okay, but the story develops too slowly, and the characters don't really interest me a third of the way in. Two benefit-of-the-doubt bonus points for not having read all of it. /KB
