This is a really amazing story about 5 generations of a family in the American South, from a woman born into slavery to her great-great-granddaughter who is the author. It is meticulously researched and very well written.

Not a book I would have read ordinarily but I really enjoyed it. Thank you to Gnocci Girl for leaving it where it could be found. Now that I have finished with it I am going to pass it along.

This book is amazing. I appreciated the hard work the women made in preserving their family. It makes me so upset the prejudice there is between different races. I wish people would learn to love and accept each other.
