I enjoyed it so much I bought the sequel, Portrait in Sepia.
Allende captured my interest in the opening and held it throughout the book. A great story, beautifully told with a sprinkling of the unexpected from time to time.
I enjoyed this book, although there were several questions remaining at the end of the book that I wished had been resolved. It is worth reading nonetheless.
I liked the characters and how they journeyed through their development. It took me awhile into the book to figure out the main character was Eliza, but I liked learning about the historical San Fransico. Sending it on to a family member.
