Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas

This book was a quick and easy read. It is so unlike the other books I've read by this author. The book is actually two love stories, one is a written diary and the other is present day. Both women love the same man. No real surprises. The ending was predictable.

The book arrived in the mail on Sat. Thanks dabercro
This book was a quick read (read it in less than 24 hours) with no unexpected surprises. I did enjoy the book - however, there was an unrealistic positiveness to the diary - almost a fairy tale, except there was no evil that needed to be overcome. Even Suzanne's health condition was somewhat fluffed over ("it doesn't matter that my heart isn't perfect since Suzanne plus Matt plus Nicolas equals one" -- too sappy!)
I sent the book to Aisling78 as a surprise RABCK
edited on 7-23-07 - meant as a RABCK for Aisling78 and accidently wrote the name of another bookcrosser. (I was making journal entries and mailing too many books on the same day).

This book was tucked into the same envelop as the "My Week in a Life Journal", and just arrived yesterday afternoon. I've already started reading it while on my lunch break today.
Ack! I got this book ages ago, read it right away, and haven't been able to get online to journal it -- or anything else -- since then. =/
This was a quick read -- it's a short novel, and Patterson's writing style is not difficult reading. I don't know if I can truly say that I enjoyed this book. The eventual ending is too tragic for this to be an enjoyable read. But it says a lot about the power of love and family. This was also difficult to read for me because I was in my first trimester while reading this novel -- I think that made it hit closer to home for me.
However, I was slightly disappointed with this book due to Patterson's writing. He took a concept that could have created an incredible novel, but created something that was just...ok, due to his heavy-handed, say-it-don't-show-it writing style.
This book was a surprise RABCK for me, so I'm secretly sending it off to another bookcrosser to keep it going (shhh...don't tell!). I do't know if this book will appeal to her, or if she has already read it, but if that's the case she can still wild release it or share it as she chooses.
So, She-Who-Receives-This-Book...enjoy it as you like! =)
