I don't think I can accurately explain how much I loved this book!

Eight women decide to walk away from their lives (temporarily) after one of their weekly get-togethers. They normally meet on a weekly basis to drink, eat and tell their deepest secrets. They realize that they have some unresolved issues in their life. The issues vary as much as the women. From housewives, moms and a secretary to being raped, being pregnant with a lover's child and fighting depression.

I think most women have felt the same way that these women have. We all can get emotionally overwhelmed. We find ourselves in relationships where we no longer recognize ourself, we give parts of our heart away and don't realize how little is left. We all have battle scars of some sort.

I did find it interesting that with so many women being friends.. that no bitchiness came out. Sadly that that seems to happen, tearing down other women, instead of helping and supporting each other.

While reading the book, you come to realize that the title is a tea. I looked online to see if I could get some of the tea to include with the book on its journey. But for $175 for 1/4 a pound, I figured it was too steep for me to pay. I have included some tea that is comforting (and yummy) to me and hope that the SKingList enjoys it.

I think that I might purchase another copy of this book to send to my best friend, so she knows that I will walk with her.

I am sending this book to SKingList as part of the Lifetime Release Challenge.

Enjoy!

This book has fabulous timing! I was just lamenting the other day how I'd gotten no mail in weeks yet it's too close to my departure date to whine at anyone to send me something, and this turned up.

Took it in to work as I pondered the return address. Love the bookmarks, and karen-r, apple cinnamon is my favourite kind of tea and Pickwick is the name of a wonderful bookstore in my hometown so good choices.

My students had fun with the postcards and finding Amarillo on the map. Also got a kick out of how they did the Ls in Amarillo as cowboy boots. Great teaching tool!

Thanks again, karen-r! Glad to help you participate in your release challenge :) I'll leave it for TFunk2o05 when I finish it.

WOW. This book was just amazing. Took me longer than I would have liked to read it due to a lack of time, but the past three days I was definitely crawling out of my skin to get it read.

I love how the author interwove 'articles' from the walkers' past with their current stories and at times found myself thinking that this was a true story.

"Papa Goose out here chasing the duckies"
I liked that, and all the other 'walker effect's. I also like how she left them unresolved, we don't know what became of those the women had an effect on.

Out of all the women, Chris reminded me the most of myself. Always running. I wonder when I'm going to settle, wonder if that's in my vocab at all. Not yet.

This was a wonderful book and I'm so grateful to karen-r for sending it. I have a dear friend who I think I'm going to pass this on to tomorrow night at my sayonara.

I found this book in my locker, where Nicky had left it to me.

I liked this book very much, it has a wonderful topic (friendship!!) and is well written. Every woman can find there something for herself, I think.

Having read it, I put it in my cupboard, where it stayed a while, but today I at least remembered it, copied down the ID and took it to work. The first one who showed some interest in reading it was Tiara, Helens flatmate, so I handed it to her.
