Mordant short fiction, written before WWI but still deliciously apt. Funny, fresh, each tale has a twist or dark underside, often with nature undermining the thin veneer of his oh-so-civilised characters.
A permanent fixture on my bookshelf, a perfect cure for insomnia.
(NB This edition (Picador) has a great intro from Tom Stoppard, the Penguin has a slightly different selection including the excellent Reginald at the Theatre, and Reginald in Russia. Take your pick!)
