this is definitely a book meant for bookcrossing... i found it lying around about a month ago.
i don't think this is the "newly abridged edition of his popular adult novel" since it's a well-worn hardback, not a paperback - which is where i found the ISBN (this copy doesn't appear to have one).
i haven't decided whether i'll read it before releasing it first... i'll put it in the TBR pile for a little while and see if it appeals to me.

this was fairly engaging, but had some very slow chapters. when i finished it, i couldn't help but think that i wouldn't be surprised to learn that this book, in part, inspired the movie titanic.
