I bought this at a charity bookshop in Oxford, England, while visiting a friend there. I've brought it back with me to Nice, France to read.

I read this in Nice during Christmas 2004. This was my first Carol Shields book, which seems strange considering I'm Canadian and Shields is one of the big names in Canadian lit. I liked this book quite a bit. I liked the casual tone of it and I liked the character of Larry. The book let me into the world and thoughts of someone unlike myself.
