I had never heard of Douglas Coupland when I picked up this book in 1995. He is, of course, the author who coined the phrase "generation X," before it became a marketing tool. I was completely enthralled by this book and I read it again right after reading it the first time. Douglas Coupland is brilliant. I couldn't believe how much I recognized the characters. I guess some of the story will seem a little quaint now, seven years later. You know, start-ups, the tech boom, venture capitalists. But of course, Coupland doesn't write about technology, he writes about people in a world in which they feel more and more removed from themselves. The book is still totally relevant.
