My copy has a completly different cover - it is the 50th anniversary edition.

You may ask how a lover of books, a reader for as long as I can remember, has never read Fahrenheit 451. I would have no real answer. I was aware of it of course, and it is one of my husband's favourite novels - yet everytime it crossed my path, I resisted it. I think the idea of burning books is so repugnant to me that I couldnh't bring myself to read a novel about it.

It's a scary novel that some say foreshadowed our life of political correctness and history erasing.

Guy Montag is a fireman, and in his time - sometime in the future from 1953 - firemen set fires rather than put them out. They hunt down books and set fire to the books and buildings they are in and if the owners don't go down with the books they are arrested.

One day, Guy becomes curious and starts reading a book and his life is forever changed.
