This is the last and 6th in the Dune series. Not a lot of action but more cerebral. Lots of Bene Gesserit introspection on what is going on in the universe and how to fight the Honoured Matre that have killed billions, many planets and want to wipe the Bene Gesserit out.

The head of the sisterhood, Odrade, is located on Chapterhouse now that Dune was destroyed. The Honored Matre would love to know where she is located so they can finish the sisterhood off. Eventually, with the help of her compratriots Odrade travels to the planet housing the Honoured Matre to meet the Spider Queen, with interesting consequences.

The Honoured Matre are fearsomely fast and represent a deadly and toxic threat to the universe – they are kind of like republicans. Only capable of thinking of themselves – the Bene Gesserit (Democrats) are weaker but intellectually stronger and have to outwit them.

There are alot of characters and it would have been better to have read this book after the first 5 as I was confused about who some of these people are and what powers they had.

Finished the book Wednesday, May 5th, 2010, at 11:18 pm in bed waiting for Cindy to get back from Toronto.
