Into the Wild
6 journalers for this copy...
The true story of a man who gave everything away and invented a new life for himself in Alaska.
Am releasing into a bookbox on August 1 2003
I read the article several years ago in Outside magazine. I would have loved to have met McCandless myself.

I listened to Into the Wild on audiotape at the end of last year. It was a terribly sad book (no spoilers here; the cover clearly reveals the young man's too-soon end). The hook for me was trying to understand why the young man left for Alaska and why he was so poorly prepared for his new life. Recommended.

I'm going to send this back out in the bookbox tomorrow, "into the wild". (apologies)

Interesting, from the perspective of trying to figure out why someone would do all this, but I don't think I would have liked McCandless if I'd met him in person. I will probably take this one to the BC meetup Tuesday.
Picked this one up at meetup tonight...looks interesting. I will put this one on the tbr shelf.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
The "Main Streetish" designation may be a little irritating...but that's the fun. Various businesses, storefronts, offices, and doorways will all be subject to a huge number books in this mass-release undertaking that will occur over the next thirty days as I set free my shelves. P.S. Happy Birthday, Mr.Vonnegut.

Found the book at the Stafford Area Community Thrift Store, in Stafford Springs, Connecticut where I volunteer. Realizing that the book was not to be sold I took it home to read. Just finished it and will shortly release it in the area.
