Great book, about a guy who comes to the small town of Castle Rock and opens up a store. He is strange and has strange attractions but seems to have this telepathic gift of finding not just what somebody loves but would cherish and do almost anything to acquire and keep it.
He preys upon the citizens of Castle Rock because he charges them very little for something they really covet but he also asks them to play a small trick. He also has this way of knowing what really triggers people and what their weaknesses are. These little tricks often have fatal repercussions and the townsfolk start feuding with each other and things generally go to hell. Some characters – Polly Chalmers owns you Sew and Sew. Sheriff Panghorn is in charge around there and stiff suffering the loss of his wife and son. Little Brian Rusk gets the baseball card he always wanted but then has to do some evil to keep it. And he does ....
