Journal Entry 1 by Firegirl from Tucson, Arizona USA on Monday, March 2, 2009
From back cover: This is the story of what it's like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie's letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives. We may now know to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite.

This book was wonderful - charming, funny and touching. It reminded me a little of Catcher in the Rye, but a modern-day version.

Hey, this heavy little green book arrived safe'n'sound here in Logan City on a windy, cold Winter's day! I'll put it onto the top of my reading list as I've still go one other bookring to finish before this one.

Thank you so much for including me on this one Firegirl!

Journal Entry 6 by marsala from - Ergens in de provincie, Noord-Brabant Netherlands on Friday, July 31, 2009
This one arrived here safely a couple of days ago. I was hoping I would finish it today, so I could send it of before I go on holiday tomorrow, but I'm not gonna make it. It will be travelling with me through germany, poland, slovakia, hungaria and probably also the chech republic. Hopefully it will survive the trip :)

(No worries, I will take good care)

Back from my holiday and the book survived (unlike our car). I really enjoyed it, and so did my sister.

I liked this book, but not as much as I was expecting to. It's been on my "Must read" list for years and years now, and I think maybe my expectations were too high. But I'm very glad to have read it. Will be sending on to the next reader in the next few days.

Thanks for sharing!

This was a decent read showing how someone with a mental illness can be overwhelmed by the everyday things in life that we take for granted. It was well written and interesting and I enjoyed reading this. Will post on next week if these postal strikes have finished!!!

I actually preferred this to Catcher in the Rye. It's more recent and I can relate to it more easily. It's written as a series of letters and gives insight into a troubled teenager effectively.
Will pass on when I have the address

I was worried at first that this may be self-consciously similar to The Catcher in the Rye but I was pleasantly surprised. It is actually one of the best books I have read about either being a teenager or having a mental illness. Thanks for sharing!

Received yesterday! I psyched to read a book with the Rockyhorror Picture as a main plot element! :)

Journal Entry 20 by rockyhorror1978 from not specified, not specified not specified on Friday, January 8, 2010
Just finished the book last night. It is an interesting and fairly original novel. I had it on my wishlist for a while. I agree that it is comparable to Catcher in the Rye, though I think I prefer it to this one. I started high school the same year that the main character did and remember the angst and social awkwardness that the character talks about. I do tend to think that it was slightly unrealistic in that he had more personal awareness and alturism than most adolescents have at that time in their lives.

I have the next reader's address and will send this weekend. Thanks Firegirl for including me in this bookray.

Received this last night in the mail - I'm halfway through my current book and this will be next on my list. Thank you for sending my way! :)

UPDATE: I started reading this on 2/8/10

Journal Entry 23 by kerbam1421 from Halethorpe, Maryland USA on Wednesday, February 10, 2010
I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting to see how much Charlie's life changed in the matter of a year. This book reminded me a little bit of Go Ask Alice. The one thing that annoyed me though was not knowing who he was writing to, the constant crying, and signing the letters "love always" - thank you for sharing this book with me!

I've contacted bindibooks, but haven't heard back from her yet. I'll give her a few more days.

UPDATE 2/12/10: Have not heard from bindibooks. Contacted mandyfaye.

UPDATE 2/18/10: Have not heard back from mandyfaye. I will be holding the book for a bookbox that I have coming my way shortly.

Thanks for including me! :)
