My original copy of this powerful study of the lasting effects of childhood bullying was lent to my little sister and vanished in one of her house moves. I have had this sitting around waiting to to be released for so long because I was determined to give it a proper review before doing so, but this is all you're getting it. I don't enjoy early Atwood but this, the next one to be published after The Handmaid's Tale, is her in her stride exploring relationships and thoughts without the strident feminism that I felt marred, for example, The Edible Woman or Surfacing.

I loved the book a lot - it has so many levels: the bully story, the coming of age, the gender roles ... However, I obtained another copy for my permanent collection, so I'll be able to let go of this one.
