"After killing the red-haired man, I took myself off to Quinn''s for an oyster supper."

This is the quote that first caught my attention. The blurb from Kirkus Review says:

"A bibliophilic, cozy, murderous confection out of foggy old England...remarkably entertaining...begs comparison with the work of Patricia Highsmith."

What more could I ask for?

I struggled with this book. It started out so well; then halfway through I hit a wall. I skimmed the last part. I think it's too long, maybe too whiny. I got tired of Glyver's rants. It does *not* beg comparison with Patricia Highsmith! Given a choice, I'll take her every time. But this isn't a bad book. It just needs to be trimmed a bit.
