Picked it up at the english meetup. I lke ben elton, particularly for en entertaining read on the beach. i will leave this book in Croatia, if i finish on time.

I didn't get aroun to reading it on the beach in Croatia, but I should have. It was pretty much what I expected. It's a very cynical story about a UK talent show. The story's dialogue is highly repetitive, and is in danger of getting boring, but at the same time it's a stylistic element that certainly fits for these types of shows. The story builds and builds until I expected a huge showdown, which turned out to be completely different from what I expected and that's what I like. And with Ben Elton there's always a bit of a mindfuck involved, isn't there? I also like his epilogues.

It was OK, but a bit too repetitive and silly, esp. "The Blenheims". It reminded me a bit of the Babylon books, like Hotel Babylon, etc.

An easy-to-read-book for situations you don't need to concentrate much, like for vacations or work-out.
I don't like these kind of shows too much, that means I watch them sometimes without getting involved in the characters. That's why I didn't finish this book, although it's funny and interesting to look behind the scenes. The swearing-language appears pretty often which I didn't like at all, but I guess that's the pop-business...
