Given to me by another keen reader who was "sure I would love" these two Diana Gabaldon novels. She has passed on books, two – ‘Dragonfly In Amber’ - and book three, ‘Voyager’ of a trilogy. Hum, not sure when I shall get round to these if I wait till I stumble across the first 'Cross Stitch'? I have seen many other bookcrossers rave about this series so I will get a chance to make up my own mind.

My goodness me this copy is signed!

Book cover: "Claire Randall is a reluctant time traveller whose wry twentieth-century sensibility meets its match in eighteenth-century Scotland with a gallant young clansman, Jamie Fraser. In Voyager she faces a possibility both exhilarating and frightening. Having returned to her own time, pregnant and brutalised by the trip through two centuries, she makes a new life for herself, training to become a doctor and raising her daughter, Brianna. But the passage of two decades does little to dim the memory of Jamie or the life they once shared, and the constant presence of Brianna, with her fathers brilliant red hair and well-loved features, is a painful reminder of the past.

Now Brianna has grown up, and Claire learns that Jamie may have survived the bloody battle of Culloden. Dare she risk another trip through the stones, a trip that could easily prove fatal? Will she even be able to find Jamie, and how can she leave behind her beloved daughter, knowing all to well she may never see her again?"

I have decided to respond to a request for this by sending it off unread! Thinking when I get back to this series I can get this from the library, or re-negotiate through bookcrossing. All a bit topsy-turvey I know but I have just zoomed through the first book in this series, all 863 pages of Cross Stitch to send with Voyager and I really want to get back to my bookgroups reading and some other project reading I am doing. Oh why is reading non-fiction such a trial for me to read when I can zoom through novels? This though is 1059 pagers long so is in it’s own way as daunting as some non-fiction…

Update: The urgency to read and send this off, to annenz in New Zealand, is off as she has negotiated another copy of this from else where.
