Fear of Falling: The Inner Life of the Middle Class

In my TO BE READ pile. I picked this up at a rummage sale my sister had.
I'm sending this on to scootergirl1974. It was temporarily lost after I'd moved but I just found it a couple of days ago. Enjoy and thanks for the trade! I really enjoyed Audacity of Hope!
First of all I want to thank sweetestgoodbye for sending me this book. This book was one of Ehrenreich's earlier books, I really enjoyed Nickeled and Dimed. This one didn't interest me as much. Maybe, because I come from working class roots and don't really care about what Ehrenreich calls the Professional Middle Class. Though there was a chapter I thought was very interesting that it talked about the 1970's how people were interested in buying products that were more effiecient and that people were trying to eat more health conscience. It goes to show that History repeats itself. When our fuel prices went up in 2008 people are looking at buy smaller cars or hybrids.
It's sad that almost 20 years after this book has been written. That nothing really has been done to help the poor. Jobs are still being sent overseas. Middle Americans are having to cut back, many losing there homes. While the rich are still getting richer.

Received today - thanks Scootergirl1974! I, too, enjoyed Nickeled and Dimed and have been wanting to read some more of Ehrenreich's books.
I expect to finish both of my current two reads this weekend and then Summer is next, so it will be off to you soon. Thanks for trading with me!
