When Patrice Newell left a highly charged urban life to live in the country, friends warned her she's be bored in no time. Fifteen years later, she's doing more in a day than most of us do in a week. And Elmswood is no ordinary property, it's a biodynamic farm with beef cattle and olives.
An interesting story of a tv personality turned very hard worker. I like her determination, but the story drags and I had trouble finishing it. Since this one she's published at least two more!

This looks a great book. Picked up at the Meetup

I enjoyed this book. I learnt a bit about olives and biodynamic farming. I liked how the book didnt give a romantic view of farming. It showed how it was hard work, sometimes devastating but mostly rewarding.
It shows how hard it is to make a living from agriculture in Australia, and how much chance our farmers have to take to enter into new markets that in the long run may or may not turn out to be economic.

picked up at the meetup, thank you, i need a bit of inspiration to take a chance or two!
this book was sitting on my shelf for a while,i thought of it as just another 'yuppy gone country' story, like we see crop up everywhere lately.
well much to my delight it was not like that at all, i really enjoyed learning a bit more of farming practises, the production of olives and the oil, the marketing behind it etc.
i only gave the book 6/10 though because it was a bit disjointed and sometimes hard to follow, but overall a very enjoyable, hard to put down, read!

Unable to leave a meet up without taking at least one book I brought this book home a while back. It must have been a while back because I haven't made to to a meet up since? Hmmm, well, anyhow....
I enjoyed this book. It made me want to grow things and bake things, but then I came to my senses and decided to read another book instead. I did eat some olives though.
