It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.West from Home: Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder, San Francisco, 1915
12 journalers for this copy...
I was excited when I found this book, as I had been on the list of people who were to read it as part of a bookray started by vcrain, which unfortunatly stalled about a year ago.
I loved this look at the San Fransisco world's fair as seen through the eyes of a much loved author.

12. hshah - India (skipping, and moved down the list check to see if still interested in the book)
13. froggirlwendy - Australia (skipping, and moved down the list - check to see if still interested in the book)
I have other rings in the house, but I will try to turn it around quickly.
Update: I enjoyed reading about Laura's later life and learning a bit about San Fransico.
Thanks to nimrodiel and sqdancer for sharing :-)
I have just finished studying American History this semester and it was interesting learning about San Francisco at that time. Elements from WWI are brought into Laura's life such as the mysterious disappearance of Rose's German work colleague. This personal correspondence with her husband makes this a little gem of a book.
I have PMed vicar of dibley for her address so I should get this book moving again :-) Thanks again for sharing :-)
im just finished a book so this is next up to get it going
AgnesXNitt has sent her addy so it'll be posted this week
Thanks for starting this ring and giving me the chance to meet an old friend again

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
off to the next person on the list
Read in one sitting (still *very* slow at work!) so will now PM Reetpetite and get this one on the road again!
I found the book interesting, but started to get a bit annoyed with Laura - she seemed to spend a lot of time saying she was enjoying San Francisco and the exhibition but couldn't wait to get home. Half the time I don't think she wanted to be there at all! Still it was interesting to read what she thought of the city and the exhibition, how she obviously loved visiting the different countries halls but always returned to farming matters her husband would be interested in!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Posted on to next participant in the ring :)
I was interested that there was a statue called 'The Pioneer Mother'. The Fair sounded amazing & I loved the photo of the San Francisco house with all it's balconies. I'll have to try and find my own copy of this book :)
Thanks a bunch for sharing Nimrodiel.
Will PM bestfriends in France for their address.
Posted to bestfriends on 31st October 2006.
Thanks ReetPetite for sending it and nimrodiel for sharing. I'm very much looking forward to reading it, as I adore everything that has to do with Laura Ingalls Wilder's and her books. A couple of weeks ago I have read "On the Way Home" by Rose Wilder Lane and enjoyed that one too! Will probably start right this weekend!
November 10th update:
I did (read it last weekend) and enjoyed it very much. I could imagine how this former pioneer girl, that once traveled through the States by covered wagon, must have been amazed by such all those modern time delights and trafic in a modern big city. This must have been only the beginning, as this was 1915 and she lived until 1957, so she must have come across a lot more modern inventions. Would like to read more about the historical background of her books (and visit the places where she lived or what's left of them!). Thanks for sharing.
Sent to zazou today.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I realised I forgot to enclose my usual postcard, so here's a picture of the town the book was sent from.
I am also amazed at how much as changed during the 20th century and I always wonder if people realised the cenges they were witnessing... will are grandchildren say the same?
