It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

This was found in a box of rescued books. It is a library discard.

I was excited when I found this book, as I had been on the list of people who were to read it as part of a bookray started by vcrain, which unfortunatly stalled about a year ago.

I loved this look at the San Fransisco world's fair as seen through the eyes of a much loved author.

Thanks for taking part in my bookray. The participant list is above (the previous post). Please, enjoy the book, but try not to hold onto it longer than a month since it is such a short book. If you think you will need longer, just let me know so we don't think it has been lost. Pm the next in line for their mailing info and send it on it's way :)

Arrived safe and sound. Thank you for starting this ray up again!

I have other rings in the house, but I will try to turn it around quickly.

Update: I enjoyed reading about Laura's later life and learning a bit about San Fransico.

Journal Entry 6 by Drusillamac from Glasgow, Scotland United Kingdom on Friday, August 4, 2006
This arrived in the post this morning. I'm really looking forward to it because I was a huge Laura Ingalls Wilder fan when I was younger. At the moment I have a few other rings/rays in front of this one at the moment but should get to it shortly.

Thanks to nimrodiel and sqdancer for sharing :-)

What a charming book. I fell in love with the 'Little House' books when we studied them in school. I read and re-read my way through the entire collection before my age hit double figures!

I have just finished studying American History this semester and it was interesting learning about San Francisco at that time. Elements from WWI are brought into Laura's life such as the mysterious disappearance of Rose's German work colleague. This personal correspondence with her husband makes this a little gem of a book.

I have PMed vicar of dibley for her address so I should get this book moving again :-) Thanks again for sharing :-)

i enjoyed reading the letters of the all growed up Laura to her daughter. I hadn't realised she was a rather elderly lady when she wrote the little house series.

AgnesXNitt has sent her addy so it'll be posted this week

Thanks for starting this ring and giving me the chance to meet an old friend again

Received on Monday 10/10/06, and intend to read this week.
Read in one sitting (still *very* slow at work!) so will now PM Reetpetite and get this one on the road again!
I found the book interesting, but started to get a bit annoyed with Laura - she seemed to spend a lot of time saying she was enjoying San Francisco and the exhibition but couldn't wait to get home. Half the time I don't think she wanted to be there at all! Still it was interesting to read what she thought of the city and the exhibition, how she obviously loved visiting the different countries halls but always returned to farming matters her husband would be interested in!

Really loved this book. I could imagine Manly waiting at home for letters from his Bessie. I like her books & I like reading about her as well, I've got a biography in my PC.
I was interested that there was a statue called 'The Pioneer Mother'. The Fair sounded amazing & I loved the photo of the San Francisco house with all it's balconies. I'll have to try and find my own copy of this book :)
Thanks a bunch for sharing Nimrodiel.

Will PM bestfriends in France for their address.

In my mailbox today!
Thanks ReetPetite for sending it and nimrodiel for sharing. I'm very much looking forward to reading it, as I adore everything that has to do with Laura Ingalls Wilder's and her books. A couple of weeks ago I have read "On the Way Home" by Rose Wilder Lane and enjoyed that one too! Will probably start right this weekend!

November 10th update:

I did (read it last weekend) and enjoyed it very much. I could imagine how this former pioneer girl, that once traveled through the States by covered wagon, must have been amazed by such all those modern time delights and trafic in a modern big city. This must have been only the beginning, as this was 1915 and she lived until 1957, so she must have come across a lot more modern inventions. Would like to read more about the historical background of her books (and visit the places where she lived or what's left of them!). Thanks for sharing.

Sent to zazou today.

Love her books just finished another short one (On The Way Home)that was a diary of her trip from Dakota to Mansfield, MO (where she ending up living). Think of starting that one as a ring also.

Look forward to reading this one.

Journal Entry 22 by Suefitz from Saratoga, California USA on Thursday, June 7, 2007
What a great book, since most of it took place so close to home. San Francisco is about 40 minutes away and she actually visited the town of Los Gatos, which is our next door neighbor about 3 miles from my house.

Would love to see what the answers back to her letters are like.

Waiting for address of next person in line.
