Wulf Tryggvason and his story is quite different from every other Dark Hunter in this series, so far. First, he was brought over to the Dark side under questionable circumstances. His soul was actually stolen from him by one of his own Norse Gods and switched for the soul of an exhisting female DH who that God was in love with, rather than given willingly to Artemis, so his very status as a Dark Hunter is questionable. Next are the special and exclusive powers that every DH possesses upon his 'birth'. In Wulf's case, nobody ever remembers him 5 minutes after they part with the exception of those few born of his bloodline, which is steadily growing thinner. Only Christopher, a nephew, still remains, and he's unmarried and childless, and the prospects aren't good, which is bad news for Wulf because after Christopher dies, there will never be another living person who will remember ever having met Wulf.

Until he meets Cassandra, that is. The only problem with Cassandra is that she is a 26-year old Apollite who's birthday is in a short 8 months. She's also the one person who unknowingly holds the fate of the universe in her hands. The pair first meet in a bar owned by a were-panther family. At first, Cassandra forgets Wulf, but then he comes back to her in a very erotic dream...a dream shared by Wulf. The pair meet again days later in the same bar after Cassandra and her friend/bodyguard, Katra, are attacked by daimons who believe Cassandra's death will end the original curse laid on them by Apollo, meaning they will no longer die on their 27th birthdays and thus, won't need to turn vampire.

Naturally Wulf is drawn to Cassandra not only because she can remember him, but because of their recent shared dreams. He's also vowed to protect her life at all costs. And then he learns that she is an Apollite, sworn enemy to all Dark Hunters. At first, he's very torn over what to do. Forget about her and hope Chris will settle down and make babies, or save a mortal enemy who happens to be an attractive woman. So Acheron Parthenopaus, leader of all Dark Hunters, helps Wulf with his difficult decision when he reveals that Wulf and Cassandra's shared erotic encounters were more than just dreams.

The pair were 'introduced' in their sleep by the Gods because they knew a Dark Hunter would ever have such intimate contact with a mortal enemy on purpose, but there's a more important reason that will benefit both of them. To save the world, Cassandra must leave an heir, but with only 8 months to live and no breeding prospects on the immediate horizon, the chance of that happening are slim to none. Once Cassandra and Chris are gone, Wulf will be forgotten by everyone, which means he also needs an heir. What he doesn't know is that because Artemis never actually touched him and made him a Dark Hunter, he's never lost his fertility, as all other DHs have. He can father children, but doesn't know it.

The most obvious outcome is that Cassie becomes pregnant with Wulf's child. Now not only does she have more reason than ever to fight the daimons who want her dead, but so does Wulf. He has to protect his unborn child so that his line will continue on for generations to come. 'Kiss of the Night' is filled with action-filled fight scenes and unexpected twists, besides Cassie's bloodline and Wulf's surprising fertility. In his many fights to protect the mother of his unborn child, Wulf falls in love with Cassie, Cassie loves him as well, but refuses to acknowledge or give in to her feelings knowing that it will be harder on her, Wulf, and their child when she dies.

Luckily, the story ends on a happier note, but I won't reveal anything further.
