Practical Demonkeeping

"In Christopher Moore's ingenious debut novel, we meet one of the most memorably mismatched pairs in the annals of literature. The good-looking one is one-hundred-year-old ex-seminarian and "roads" scholar Travis O'Hearn. The green one is Catch, a demon with a nasty habit of eating most of the people he meets. Behind the fake Tudor facade of Pine Cove, California, Catch sees a four-star buffet. Tarvis, on the other hand, thinks he sees a way of ridding himself of his toothy traveling companion. The winos, neo-pagans, and dadbeat Lotharios of Pine Cove, meanwhile, have other ideas. And none of them is quite prepared when all hell breaks loose."
I enjoyed this one more than some of the other stories. I like the setting of Pine Cove and some of the re-occurring characters.

what a great surprise!
I think my least favorite Moore. I'm not sure why, but I just didn't get as far into it. I think I'll read it again though - maybe I Moore-OD'd.
love meeting the characters that I saw later in The Stupidest Angel though!

Thank you so much--you really made my day. :)
I just finished this book today and really enjoyed it. Life has been very busy and stressful lately and I haven't been reading much. Practical Demonkeeping was a great antidote. While this book wasn't laugh out loud funny like some of Moore's later works, it was still lots of fun. I loved all the residents of Pine Cove, especially Augustus Brine and Effrom. One of my favorite things about Christopher Moore books is that he always works a happy ending in there. :)
Thanks again for this wonderful surprise.
