This series was a gift from a good friend.

Using a mixture of Irish and Norse mythology, this series creates a rich fantasy setting filled with fairly diverse characters. Joel Rosenburg always strikes me as a gifted writer, and this series does not disappoint.

It's a good day when a bookring arrives in the mail. It's a great day when the ring has three books! Can't wait to dig into this series. It looks really good. I have a little bit left in my current book, then I'll read this after book one.

I liked this book a lot. I really enjoy reading series, and this did not disappoint. As with the first book, the last 50 pages or so were really exciting and led to a climactic and unexpected ending. I am excited to read book 3 because there is a lot of unfinished business.

Sending this along to tobysrus along with the two other books in the series.

Liked this book as much as the first one. You get to feel that you know the characters, but I still couldn't predict the plot or plot twists...keeps you guessing. Looking forward to reading number three.....

Finished this one over the weekend. I'm enjoying the storyline. I was getting a little frustrated with the Ian character in the beginning of the book - by the end of the book I had revised my opinion. I'm glad that I have the opportunity to dive right into the third book. This series does remind me of a series I read awhile ago by Stephen Donaldson.

I have already started #3.

I received this book in the mail today along with books 1 and 3 in the series. Thanks to omly for the bookring and to BooksnBeer for sending it on to me. I will read and post a review ASAP.

The Silver Stone advanced the story of the Hidden Ways nicely, picking up after Ian's short vacation following book 1. I like the way Rosenburg can tell an engaging story without taking 1000 pages to do it. That is a rare talent in fantasy nowdays. Arnie's prominent role in this volume was pleasantly unexpected.

On to book 3...

*see my journal entry for book 1* Again, I like having the Norse gods in the book and the little facts about fencing were interesting too.

Mailed today.

Journal Entry 18 by GateGypsy from Ladysmith, British Columbia Canada on Friday, March 3, 2006
Arrived in the mail on... oh... Tuesday? I think. Anyways, this book, plus books 1 and 3 all arrived in the same parcel. I shall get to them shortly ((I have one other bookring book ahead of them, I believe.))

Thanks so much for sharing! I'm looking forward to reading these!

I've decided that the author likes Ian the best. Though much of the story focussed on Torrie through book one, I have seen the error of my ways in allowing myself to be distracted by all Torrie's page time. I should have paid more attention to the quality of the characters and the way Ian was being set up to be important. Boy, and did Arnie ever come out of left field! When I met him in the first book, I didn't expect to get much more out of him. I should have known something was up when he stoically survived the attack of the Sons... All in all, I liked number two better than one, to be honest... Though I am not really sure why. Maybe I just like being in Ian's head more than in Torrie's. Now I must get on to book three!

Mailed off in tandem with the other two in the series on Monday (morning), Sept. 25th. Hope they get there soon!

Got this the same time as the others, just forgot to journal it. Oops

I'm going to start on this today! :-)

This was a great book!

Journal Entry 20 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Tuesday, November 7, 2006
The 3 books of this trilogy arrived today. As I already told omly via PM, I've got a fairly long owed TBR list at the moment, between rings/rays and swaps, so I was initially going to decline this trilogy as I may not be able to start on these before the end of the year (though I'm hoping to at least one of them read by then). Since I'm last on the list however, and she wasn't going to have time to do anything with them right away, she's allowed me to accept them and hang on to them for longer than usual. Of course, we both live in the same state so omly, if you need them back before I've finished with them, just let me know. Thanks for allowing me to participate. :)
