In the fourth installment of the Spiderwick Chronicles, a shapeshifting creature imitating Jared causes trouble at Mallory's fencing match. Dwarves, in league with the dwarves and Mulgarath, kidnap Mallory and demand that Jared and Simon give them the field guide. With only one book left in the series, this book ends with, well, not exactly a cliffhanger, but enough to entice readers into eagerly anticipating the final installment (which will be released in a week and a half!).
