Cadie is an entomologist trying to save the forest from fires by proving there is a beetle killing the trees. She is also harboring a secret for several decades. An estranged friend from her past calls asking for help. In order to do this Cadie must return to the place she swore she would never go back to. If the secrets she hold are revealed several lives that she once cared about may be hurt deeply.
The parts of the story about the beetles were a bit repetitive and tedious. I don’t enjoy books that go back and forth in time, it makes it confusing at times.
