'M' is for Malek Construction the $40 million company that grew out of modest soil to become one of the big three in California. 'M' is for the Malek family: four sons now nearing middle age who stand to inherit a fortune - four men with very different temperaments and needs, linked only by blood and money. Eighteen years ago, one of them - angry, troubled and in trouble - went missing. 'M' is for Millhone, now hired to trace that missed black sheep brother. And, in brutal consequence, 'M' is for murder...
I am still really enjoying the Kinsey books. They are so easy going but also intriguing and this one held my interest to the end. Kinsey is so likeable, funny and down to earth you feel you would like to meet her. However this book is heartbreakingly sad – you know who the victim is going to be like a lamb to the slaughter. Nice to see Robert Dietz again.

Like an old fashioned whodunit. Who in the big house is the murderer? Really moving Epilogue.

This one was familiar to me and made me wonder if it had been made in to a cheap channel 4 movie at some point! If so I've watched it ;-) enjoyed the plot and now ready to move on once I know who it's to go to :-)

PI Kinsey Millhone is called in by a cousin who's an attorney to look for a missing person who's in line to inherit five million dollars. There's also the small matter of a missing will which should have cut this black sheep of the family out. Guy Malek was a trouble maker who'd been thrown out by his father 18 years before, and his brothers aren't keen to have have him back or to give him his share of the money. It's no surprise that Guy's return stirs up old troubles - resulting in murder. Fortunately Kinsey's old flame Robert Dietz is back on the scene and her fellow PI can help with some of the leg-work. Another exciting episode!

Sent to Maranlin who is next in the ray.
Received this book in the mail today. Thank you, greenbadger for sending it to me. Also, thanks for the post card and Happy New Year to you!
One of the things I like about this series is that various people in Kinsey's life reappear in subsequent books, so it was good to see Robert Dietz back again. As others have said, there was some sadness in this book and the case seemed a bit different than the others. The job Kinsey was hired to do was completed early on, but then things happened which kept her involved.
Mailed this book today to penelopewanders. Enjoy!

Continuing the Sue Grafton alphabet spiral, courtesy of bookcrossing. The tone in this was slightly sad, and I am curious how things will evolve with Dietz. Finding someone who disappeared 18 years earlier has created (maybe) unexpected problems. One thing that seemed slightly unfamiliar in this series was the hints at supernatural - woo-woo stuff- as Kinsey calls it. Not sure where that was going or even where it went at the end. Still a good read.
At some point I had N is for Noose, but I may have left it behind on a trip. At anyrate it's not on my shelf and I mentioned leaving it with family I was visiting. As it's been over ten years since I read it, I won't mind getting it through the spiral and reading it again.

This left Switzerland by car and now heads to Romania by post from France. Once again, thanks so much for making this spiral available.
Safely received with thanks. I'm trying to stay inside as much as possible these days, and working from home - so it should be a good read for the long days ahead :)
This one caught me in a more relaxed state of mind and I was able to give it my full attention. What surprised me were the traces of redemption, salvation and a little bit of spiritism here and there - is Kinsey turning superstitious? I liked the way crime didn't pay - but I found it a tad moralizing in this case. Interesting characters, entertaining action and a welcomed return of Dietz. Could be the book in the series I've enjoyed most so far.
Thanks for sharing! Will send it on as soon as possible given the virus and its associated mobility and postal restrictions.
