For the most part, I enjoyed this classic. It lacked the witty wordplay of Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest and I found that I missed that. However, the story was thought-provoking and well-told. It caused me to ponder what it would be like if my soul were to be revealed in portrait form and if I would like what I saw!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This is headed out to kaila-ann as part of the wishlist tag game. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for sending this - I got a little bit of a chuckle out of the fact the it’s the chump change edition. Just made me laugh :)
Audiobook - between a pick and so-so. I’ve been trying to catch up on my classics and a lot of them seem to be offered on hoopla. I honestly don’t know how I feel about this one. The writing is clever and the story is a fascinating idea but over all . . . I was kind of meh. Luckily the audiobook let me multitask and I think that might have saved it at one point. I gave it a pick but I don’t think it will ever be one of my absolute favorites.

A guy that starts out sweet

but sours in the sun.

This is one of those classics that everyone is supposed to read. And I've been slowing working my way through them. :)
I did find the premise of a guy that naive at his edge to be a bit beyond belief but of course, I've never lived in that day and age so... I don't know. It still seems unlikely. However, the rest of the story also requires suspension of belief, so I'm going to say it's more like an allegory.
So going off that, it's an interesting case study of a character playing an 'Adam' level of innocence and the mirror becomes of the forbidden apple. The progressive warp of his personality then becomes expected. It's still entertaining though. And the end a word of warning to its readers.
A fun little tale that I wish more people read and considered in this modern age. They all could do with learning that lesson.

This is not the kind of book I generally get into, so I wanted to get it back in circulation. :)
Since I was taking a driving trip upstate (5 1/2 hour drive!) to a used bookstore I've been wanting go to, I thought I would take it as a trade in with other for credit towards other books. It's a very popular place so I'm sure it'll find an exciting new reader soon. ;)
