A stranger asks Jo for a lift, but from there it all goes horribly wrong!
Jo has problems - she suffers from agoraphobia - and manages only to take her little girl to nursery, go to work, collect her daughter, then scuttle home.
Husband Max is as supportive as possible, but things deteriorate as Jo's state of mind changes with the subsequent events.
The first chapter gripped me - but I went on to be disappointed that everything was made so simple; things happen to Jo and to Max, all explained away by Paula's narrative.
The build up into Jo's mental state is believable and frightening, and even I got that I didn't trust anybody - then Wham! what a shocker; I wished I paid more attention to from the start, which perhaps was not so simple after all!
