Picked up from the lovely and persuasive yokospungeon at tonight's meetup. I like a lot of Irvine Welch, so suspect this will continue to hold.
"Glue" was a struggle. I like Welsh, but I wasn't really in the mood for this and couldn’t read at my usual speed because phonetic Edinburgh dialect reads sufficiently different from Aberdonian that I had to sound out a fair few words in my head before getting to the meaning. His characters are strong, as always, and the glue in question is that holding friendships and families together – or not, as the case may be.
