I quite enjoyed this novel set in Chilbury, England. The novel is told through letters and journal entries. There isn't one sole plot, there are a lot of side plots. This book addresses: mortality, family relationships, wartime refuges, soldiers, lovers, widows, the black market, spies, criminal acts, homosexuality, abortion, feminism. That's the gist. Mainly, it's about finding your voice. The choir is simply a way of making the ladies realize that they have more agency over their own lives than they previously believed.

I will release it in a Lfl sometime soon. Thank you, etherea: kind bc friend who shared this book on my tbr list as part of the holiday gift giving exchange
