Thanks for the wishlist book, Klaradyn! I've already read it almost half way through in Prague. I have to say that Dishwasher Pete is a very unpleasant person and I pity anyone who has hired him or has had the bad fortune to hire anyone like him. Totally unreliable, no skills or will for customer service, very bad at taking orders and thinks the best part of a job is the time he says: "I quit!" The whole profession seems to be the same as despite his lacks in this and that and his unkept appearence he is being hired over and over again and employers seem to be sorry to see him go. The book is well written and one amazes what will happen on the next page, how much more can the employers stand. The standard of restaurants in the US is appalling, lack of hygiene and amount of crawly creepy things in kitchens is disgusting. As far as I know the hygiene requirements in Finnish restaurants are quite strict and they are being supervised, but I may have too good a picture of that field.
Usually when one reads a memoir one tends to be on the side of the writer and develop a certain liking to him / her, but this guy does not fish for symphaties nor gain any.

Finnished the book at a friend's cottage.
The book was well written and the writer became more likable with age, less radical and a bit more responsible. Was it Churchill who said that those who are not radicals when young have no heart and those who are not conservatives when old have no brains.
The aim to dish at 50 states wasn't concured during ten years on the road. The most surprising job was washing dishes on a train when the water run out - so Pete had to make do first recycling the used water and then just wiping the dirty dishes with a cloth. I might not eat on a train any time soon.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Dishwasher will join us in a meet-up at Café Eliel.
I had never heard of this book but sounds like a crazy story so I took it home with me. Thank you klaradyn and kirjakko!
I have to admit that book entertained me and I could somehow relate to dishwasher's attempt to stay free and independent. Interesting story anyway.

This was an interesting but at the same a little bit annoying and frustrating story to read:) Thank you for sharing!
This book will travel to the BookCrossing Convention in Oxford as I found it from a wishlist...:) Happy Reading!
Thank you so much for this wishlist book, along with the lovely postcard and yummy chocolate! What a wonderful surprise! Kiitos ☺
Quite entertaining! It was an interesting look at one aspect of the restaurant business. I always figured there was a lot of turnover in this industry, but didn’t realize that the rate was this high. Or maybe Mr. Jordan was not quite typical, since he had a specific agenda. Like Kirjakko, I’ll admit that occasionally his attitude bothered me a bit, i.e. his habit of quitting with no notice or simply not showing up for his first shift. But the travelogue aspect of it was interesting. I did think the book ended rather abruptly and surprisingly, but it was still enjoyable. Thank you again for sharing it, Soozreader! I hope to see you at another convention sometime.

Thank you, I look forward to reading it.
I def enjoyed it. Traveling around washing dishes and sleeping on friend's couches is a young man's game or maybe from a different era, the era of the hobo. Pete gets older and buys a van so he can vanlife through his goal of washing dishes in all fifty states. Still, once in his mid-thirties, the game is up because he wants to have a home and a wife. Sadly he doesn't complete all fifty states. That was disappointing but in order to do all fifty he would have to have had a plan that listed which states by when; it would have taken the free spirit out of it but would have seen it finished, probably.
