I bought this in a second-hand-shop in Gjøvik to be released. I have read this a long time ago and I liked it then.
From Amazon.
Lily Dahl is a heroine of the old school: tough, beautiful and brave. A nineteen-year-old waitress and aspiring actress living in Webster, Minnesota, she becomes enchanted by an exotic outsider - an artist from New York. Drawn into a world of erotic adventure, she finds herself the target of mysterious acts of madness as she strains against the confines of small town life.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
On a table.
What a nice book to find on the BC convention.
I was a little bit disappointed by this Hustvedt novel. I'm usually very fond of her writing style, but this novel just didn't catch me. Or I didn't catch Lily, I guess.
The book is with me know. Thank you.
I actually disagree with my sister here!
I liked this book, and became quite fond of Lily! - and even more of Mabel. The blurb states that Lily is tough, beautiful and brave - that is not how I saw her. In my opinion she was confused, unsure of herself, and trying to help others the best she could. I also liked the different characters in the book, I think every small town have these originals who walk around.

Picked this up at the bookcrossing meet up last Sunday. I have no idea when I'll read it, but I'm intrigued...
