I' have had this book for a while, but never gor around reading it as I had seen the movie based on this book years ago, and not liked it at all (mainly due to Woopi Goldberg in the main role). So it was a very pleasant surprise once I started reading, as the book is so much better than the movie. The writing is simple yet extremely effective and the characters really come to life.
