I'm sharing my room at St Hilda's with bags of children's books and having fun.
I never had a toy dog, but when I was eleven we got a stray dog from a shelter. I loved her dearly and had to take extra good care of her, because she was diabetic. Perhaps that is why I wanted to become a veterinary nurse and I have been taking care of sick animals for many many years now. I would not want to do any other job.
Here at the Convention I have my toy rat Clara with me. She comes from Germany and is made by a fellow bookcrosser ApoloniaX.
That's Clara on the picture with the Convention books.

I picked up this book to take home to Australia. When my two children were little, this was one of our favourite books to read together. The story of Alfie buying back his little sister's lost soft toy Dogger always brought tears to my eyes. I now have a little grandson who I will be able to share this with too!
