Twelve Days of Christmas
3 journalers for this copy...
Picked up in a charity shop trawl for a specific purpose (Christmas NSS).
Cover.
"The festive season has always been a sad time for young widow Holly Brown, so when she's asked to look after a remote house on the Lanarkshire moors, it's the perfect excuse to forget about the festivities.
The owner of the house, Jude Martland, is also avoiding Christmas since the last one saw his brother run off with his fiancee. But forced to return home unexpectedly, Jude arrives to find that his family are running amok - with Holly seemingly at the centre of it all.
As the blizzards descend, there is no escape. With nowhere to go, Holly and Jude get much more than they bargained for and it soon looks like the twelve days of Christmas are going to be very interesting indeed!".
Comment on back cover : Snuggle up with a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine, and fall in love with this heart warming tale.
I took this advice (though as it was not Christmas, the wine was not mulled and the pie was not mincemeat) but it did help to give a slightly festive spirit. This is a very warm (but not sizzling) and cosy book with some interesting characters. It was nice to have a capable woman in the lead role although Holly did also manage to irritate me at times too. I was extremely puzzled why such a supposedly capable, fiesty, woman would so willingly allow everyone to walk over her and treat her as such a skivvy! Not realistic, but suspending that thought, still a warm cosy book.
As I stated, this was picked up for a purpose and it is now set aside for just that.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
A themed release for Christmas for you.
Yahoo - a light Christmas romantic read for me! Huge thanks Flutterbies9
Arrgh - an accursed double entry!
*** SPOILER (vague) *** Warmly pleasant, lightly romantic read. Strangely the central male role remains enigmatic throughout and only declares the depth of his interest in the final of the twelve days. Holly’s and Merlin’s (the dog’s) bond of love almost holds as much promise as that of the sadly numb male here.
