PEOPLE ARE DYING. THEN THEY ARE WAKING UP HUNGRY.
“Plague Town will have you turning pages fast…and checking the locks on all the doors.” RAY GARTON author of Live Girls
In the small university town of Redwood Grove, people are succumbing to a lethal strain of flu. They are dying – but not for long.
Ashley Parker and her boyfriend are attacked by these shambling, rotting creatures that cave human flesh. Their lives will never by the same again.
When she awakes Ashley discovers that she is a “wild card” – immune to the virus – and is recruited by a shadowy paramilitary organisation that offers her the chance to fight back. Fatally attracted to her gorgeous instructor, and bonding with her fellow wild cards, Ashley begins to discover skills she never knew she had.
As the town falls to ever-growing numbers of the infected, Ashley and her team fight to contain the outbreak – but will they be enough?
“A delicious, gore-filled Zombie treat” STACY GRAHAN, author of The Zombie Dating Guide.
-------------------
Oh, good heavens, our brave and resourceful “wild-card” zombie fighting warriors are being instructed in fighting tactics with reference to zombie horror movies as teaching aids! Hmmm, troubling knowing whether to mark this into the teens or horror category when registering it with bookcrossing, plumped though for horror.
I have a, not terribly secret, guilty pleasure addiction to fanged fiction, probably because of the blistering romance angle and the simmering sizzling sexual encounters… I picked this up and swiftly put it down again. Horror not my genre, I thought and worse zombie horror, most definitely not my thing. But still why not give this a go, published just a couple of months ago, sure to be cutting edge zombie zone, perhaps a hot new writer? How would I know unless I gave it a shot?
It seems, this business of zombie action just does not seem to be doing it for me, smelly, scary, squelchy, just equals a total gross out for me. This is very self-aware geek fodder, not that I mind that, to paraphrase Neal Stephenson many of us have pointy ears hidden just out of sight in our pockets. I outed my “pointy ears” as above... and now I wonder if Fredsti can be persuaded to craft some very vintage vampire novels in addition to her zombie output, I bet I’d scoop those up.
There is a momentary resolution here at the end of Plague Town however the end also comes furnished with a massive great cliff-hanger and I just hate cliff-hangers, especially right at that point where you haven’t had time to gather you’re breath. Still I won’t get worked up about this as I shall not be following it up. I am positive though other readers out there will be happy to jump on this with glee so here it is registered and ready to travel…

Received in the mail today. Ooh, new author and a new series for me. I will have to give this one a go, but I hope it isn't too gory. I tend to skim those parts and then feel a guilty need to go back and reread the passages. Will have to wait until I feel strong enough to not give in to those guilty feelings.....possibly this summer after school is out. One thing for sure I won't be sending this one to mom as she only likes witches, vamps and weres.
Thanks nikel for sending me such a treat.
Thanks nikel for sending me such a treat.
I really enjoyed this book as it was quite different from the other paranormal I usually read. Also the author didn't spend most of the book describing explicit sex scenes between two of the main characters. I'm looking forward to reading the other two books in this series.
Sending to elsi who won it in a swap at BookObsessed.

Arrived while I was traveling. So glad it's here -- this is a series that I've seen good reviews for.
