Extended Profile
I read a wide range of books but particularly like the thriller/horror (slightly) disturbing stuff. War/spy books are favourites too but I've not read many recently as I've been trying to work my way through the entire works of Dean Koontz - boy, that
guy churns out some stuff!!
Also try to read things that have been nominated for awards as it takes the guesswork out of trying new authors and genres.
Sometimes read a biography if it's official and a really interesting person.
There is also some fantastic children's/youth fiction out there that I'm discovering for the first time. It's putting me behind with the Koontz project but I owe it to my kids, and besides, some of it's really good stuff!
Don't really like the idea of letting go of my favourites though - so as a newbie I'm just clearing out some surplus at the moment to see how it goes.
Favorite authors:
Dean Koontz & Stephen King - horror/thriller
Len Deighton - spy/war
JG Ballard - mostly plain wierd - prefer Empire of the Sun
Karin Slaughter/Tess Gerritsen/Michael Marshall/Mo Hayden et al - & loads of great thriller writers too numerous to mention.
