Extended Profile
Hey all - I love to read all types of books (except Harlequin-type romances and I do read those once in awhile, if they are set in Ireland or Australia or have to do with horses), although I have more time in the winter than the summer. :-) I have always
loved books and love BookCrossing! I try to check out this site a few times a month, so please be patient if I don't get back to you right away!
I enjoy swapping books but my funds for mailing are limited and, since I have about 3000 books to read.... I don't do a lot of swapping - but it doesn't hurt to ask. :-)
I am listing my PC books on my shelf so people can see what I really enjoy reading. I get some books at library bag sales and thrift stores to trade and release but they are, sometimes, not books I read - just what I think others may like. My PC books consist of my absolute favorites so they are not for trading or loans.
We live in the country and I love animals of all kinds. We currently have 2 cats, 2 dogs, 6 horses and 3 foals, a 4-H market steer, and tropical fish (cichlids). We've had almost every type of farm animal and poultry over the years - except sheep (when our older kids were in 4-H). We love kids and have 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys (born in 1974, 1977, 1983, 1985, 2000, and 2012), and 6 living grandchildren, 4 boys and 2 girls (born in 2000, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2021) - and 1 granddaughter awaiting us in Heaven!!
We have adopted from China, Guatemala, and the Nebraska foster system. We were licensed foster parents for several years but have decided not to continue with that. My husband and I are both retired but still keep busy on our acreage!
My current goal is to read all the books that have been Oprah's Picks!! The ones I don't have yet are:
The Meanest Thing to Say by Bill Cosby
The Treasure Hunt by Bill Cosby
The Best Way to Play by Bill Cosby
Light in August by William Faulkner
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
