I've been a reader for as long as I can remember, but my mother tells me I started reading at four. No one taught me how; one day the letters just made sense. I've been reading grown-up books and children's books side-by-side for most of my life, so Harry Potter is no surprise to me. I'm more surprised by all the adults who never read children's books before Harry!

I'm also a writer. I only became serious about my writing in the past few years, and have only worked on it with dedication in the past year or so. I'm in love with words, and I'm always working to improve my own ability in using them.

I'm proud to call myself a fan. My favorite books and authors are the Harry Potter series, Jane Austen, Patricia McKillip, The Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee, CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Amy Tan (especially The Kitchen God's Wife), Jude Deveraux (her old medievals, mostly) and Judith McNaught. I'm also getting into Georgette Heyer, and I'm always seeking out fantasy authors I haven't read before.

Non-fiction subjects I love reading about are historical costume (especially medieval), fencing (the martial art, not the kind with pickets), and the history of every-day life and customs.

My life-long dream is to own a large personal library, so I may not release as many books as most members. I'm really here to have fun and get to know other readers, and to release the occasional book I can bear to part with. You'll have to excuse me if I'm little bit of a book-hoarder, but I hope to have fun at Book Crossing anyway. :)
