Undergraduate degree in secondary education with teaching subjects of English and history. Master's + 30 hours in early childhood education. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, but have lived in Charleston, Florence, Orangeburg, Manning and Walterboro, South Carolina. Have also resided in
Savannah, Georgia and Palatka, Florida. Since moving to Gastonia hawve missed not belonging to a bookclub as I did in Charleston. Am also quite interested in children's literature. Am building my third vast classroom library. Particularly like Chris Van Alsburg and Audrey & Don Wood. Am a great believer of the good of Accelerated Reader and Star Reader program. Have read everything that Anita Shreve has written. Pat Conroy is also one of my favorite authors. Enjoyed Memoirs of a Geisha. Also like Amy Tan. My husband is also a voracious reader. Life has been good to me and my Presbyterian/Episcopalian religion is dear to me. My ten year old granddaughter was discovered to be reading on a 4th/5th level while in kindergarten. We discovered by accident that she could even read. Needless to say she doesn't miss much in the book world. The only drawback I have seen to this is that she has consequently grown up, I feel like, too early but I am to blame for reading to her so very much in her formative years.
