This is a very impressive novel. Michael Ondaatje really draws you in, and you can't help but read on, eventhough you might not necessarily like what's coming. I read the book at least half a year ago and some of the images are still vivid in my head.
The story:
Anil Tissera, born in Sri Lanka and educated in England and America, returns to her motherland, which is in the middle of a civil war. Anil is a forensic anthropologist sent by an international human rights group to find out who's behind the campaigns of murder on the island. This is a story about identity, history, family, love, and quite a bit of mystery.

Wow, I didn't know I had this book for so long in my collection. Now it is time to release it (May 2012) on another continent before we move again.
