Amazon Editorial Review
Tracy Chevalier has established an enormous and loyal fanbase with her much loved Girl With a Pearl Earring and Falling Angels. This is a reissue of her first novel, which was first published in 1996 and has been out of print for 4 years. The compelling story of two women, born four centuries apart, and the ancestral legacy that binds them. Ella Turner does her best to fit in to the small, close-knit community of Lisle-sur-Tarn. She even changes her name back to Tournier, and knocks the rust off her high school French. In vain. Isolated and lonely, she is drawn to investigate her Tournier ancestry, which leads to her encounter with the town's wolfish librarian. Isabelle du Moulin, known as Le Rousse due to her fiery red hair, is tormented and shunned in the village -- suspected of witchcraft and reviled for her association with the Virgin Mary. Falling pregnant, she is forced to marry into the ruling family: the Tourniers. Tormentor becomes husband, and a shocking fate awaits her. Plagued by the colour blue, Ella is haunted by parallels with the past, and by her recurring dream. Then one morning she wakes up to discover that her hair is turning inexplicably red...

Thank you so much yorkshire-girly for sending me this.
I like it so much, I guess I could read it twice ;-)

I will let you know what I thought of it ! Mtbr is high, but I'm a quick (and eager, and very active) reader :)

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
With me to meeting Moriquen tomorrow.
I often read 'gripping' in the blurb of a book. This is the first time (and the blurb does not even state that), that I got completely into a book that is described this way and that 'gripping' does what it promises.
Wow !

Thanks for the book and nice meeting you and the kids again, Bloedengel!
Edit: Promised to lils74 in the Wishlist Tag Game.

My immediate thought after finishing this book was that I' already read a story similar to this one and that that one had been executed a lot better. It reminded me a lot of 'Labyrinth' by Kate Moss but I thought that in Labyrinth the book just flowed a lot better. I didn't dislike the book, but I'm not crazy about it either. Thanks for sharing it with me, Bloedengel.

This is a book I've wanted to read for a long time, because of "Girl with a Pearl Earring," however, I've had real trouble reading it. Maybe it's the subject matter and the point I'm at in my life, but I'm finding myself so bothered by the way the villagers treat Isabelle, something about the way it's written is really creeping me out, and making it hard for me to enjoy the story. I hate giving up on a book, but unless something changes, I don't see myself picking it up again, so let's see what happens.

Released 10 yrs ago (3/27/2014 UTC) at NIC Clinic in Kathmandu, Bagmati (incl. Kathmandu Valley) Nepal
WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Left this outside the clinic that I was accompanying my friend to, the book is on a chair in the garden, under the corrugated roof on the right. There were lots of young people sitting waiting (this clinic processes health checkups for those seeking visas to go abroad) so I hope the book will find a good reader who's in need of a book.
